It’s official! The Sea Ilfracombe Maritime Festival now formally marks UK National Maritime Awareness Day! over the weekend of 1-2 Sept 2018.
National Maritime Day puts Ilfracombe in the spotlight representing not only Combe’s and North Devon’s maritime pedigree, but the entire UK’s maritime history, present and future.
It’s fitting that all things maritime should be celebrated beneath Lantern Hill, home to the oldest lighthouse in the country, dedicated to St. Nicholas the patron saint of sailors!
Help spread the word and make this year’s festival even bigger!
The two day FREE event programme is already promising to be a record year with a strong line up of live music, kids + family entertainment (‘Jack Sparrow’ and chum are back!); mermaid story-telling, sandcastle competitions, traditional Punch & Judy, local fare & seafood stalls, All Things Crab at Ilfracombe Yacht Club, Devon art & craft stalls and Maritime artefacts museum at The Dive Club plus water action with Y-Sail, Sea Cadets, Sea Angling and much much more!
